2's — First United Methodist Church Preschool

Serving 14 children from the ages of 24 months to 36 months. A curriculums of FrogStreet, ABCJesusLovesMe, and “learning centers” are introduced and implemented. Teachers provide visual routines with daily themes that are organized around movement and sensory exploration, along with supporting emotional vocabulary and modeling co-regulation through calming strategies. Students are given the opportunity to learn through play-based and hands-on experiences while gently being introduced to bible stories and songs. Simple independence is encouraged in addition to early manners and fine motor skills that prepare for early writing and self-care. Teachings of basic sign language is continued and expanded.

The development process of assisting with potty training begins when a child shows signs of readiness.

Children are cared for by a lead and co-teacher with an occasional third student floater.

2’s (Giraffes & Bears)

A nap mat, 2 - 3 extra sets of seasonal appropriate clothes, and diapers/undergarments should always be in their cubby.
Children should always come to school with their water bottle and a packed lunch. The preschool has extra water bottles in case a child does not have one.
No! The preschool sends home nap mats every Friday to get washed. On Monday, if you forget to bring your child’s nap mat then no worries, the preschool has extra nap mats your child can borrow.
If your child is beginning potty training at home and you would like to start sending them to school in underwear, please talk to the teacher first as the environment in home and school are different.

Ms. Vanessa, lead teacher

Hello, my name is Ms. Vanessa and I’ll be teaching your littles this year. I am 25 years old; I was born and raised in Nacogdoches, Texas. I have worked in childcare for seven years now. Coming out of high school, I instantly knew education / childcare was my calling. I have worked for NacISD, SFA Charter School, Early Childhood Lab, and found my happy place here at FUMC Preschool. This will be my fifth year as a returning teacher at FUMC and my fourth year in the Giraffes classroom.

Outside of school, my fiancé and I have been blessed with two little boys. I love listening and dancing to music, making arts and crafts, and obsessed with candles. I am eager to have a school year full of learning and being able to grow together.

Ms. Alison, co-teacher

Hi, my name is Ms. Alison! I’m extremely blessed and thankful to be here!! I started off in the Pandas classroom but have found my true joy and love in the Giraffes class. This will be my third year at FUMC Preschool and I am currently in the process of obtaining my Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate. I’m very excited for this upcoming school year and getting to know your little ones. They truly are a blessing to be around :).

When I’m not at school, you will more than likely find me spending time with my family or going out for walks. I have four younger brothers and one younger sister, and they mean the world to me. Some of favorite things to do in my spare time are coloring, listening to music, and reading. I’m looking forward to making some new memories and seeing what this school year has in store!!
